It is medication for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. PDE5 inhibitor.

Pharmacological action:
Sildenafil is a potent selective inhibitor of cGMP-specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5). During sexual stimulation occurs release of nitric oxide (NO) in the cavernous body. This increases the level of cGMP. There comes a relaxation of smooth muscle of the corpus cavernosum. Blood flow to the penis increases. Sexual stimulation is a prerequisite for the effectiveness of Viagra®.

If the patient has taking sildenafil at dosages up to 100 mg, the significant changes in the ECG in healthy volunteers don’t revealed. The maximum decrease in systolic blood pressure (supine after taking sildenafil 100 mg) was 8.3 mm Hg. The maximum decrease in diastolic blood pressure – 5.3 mm Hg (under the same conditions). A more pronounced effect of the drug on blood pressure has patients, taking nitrates.
Studies of visual impairment:
Some patients after 1 hours after taking of sildenafil 100 mg had an impaired ability to distinguish shades of color (blue / green). These deviations are absent at 2 hours after taking of Viagra.

Contraindications
