Composition of Rocaltrol
Calcitriol 0.25 mcg or 0.5 mg

Pharmacologic effect of Rocaltrol
Mode of action – regulating calcium metabolism, stimulating osteogenesis, normalizing calcium in bone tissue.
Contraindications of Rocaltrol
Hypersensitivity. In the systemic application: hypercalcemia, renal osteodystrophy with hyperphosphatemia, the D hypervitaminosis, pregnancy, lactation.
When applied topically: hypercalcemia, or sharing violation Ca2 + concomitant systemic (maintenance) treatment of calcium homeostasis, pregnancy, lactation.
Restrictions apply
For regular use: atherosclerosis, pulmonary tuberculosis (active form), chronic heart failure, hyperphosphatemia, phosphate nefrourolitiaz, sarcoidosis or other granulomatosis, pregnancy, lactation, old age (may promote atherosclerosis), children’s age (18 years).
Side effects of Rocaltrol
Systemic effects. The symptoms of an overdose of vitamin D: hypercalcemia syndrome or calcium intoxication (depending on the severity and duration of hypercalcemia).
Early symptoms: weakness, prolonged headache, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, constipation, myalgia, bone pain, metallic taste, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, thirst, increased frequency of urination, especially at night, or polyuria, arrhythmia.
Late symptoms: bone pain, polydipsia, anorexia, nocturia, conjunctivitis, pancreatitis, photophobia, rhinorrhea, pruritus, hyperthermia, decreased libido, increased blood urea nitrogen, albuminuria, hypercholesterolemia, elevated liver transaminases (ALT and AST), ectopic calcification, nephrocalcinosis, hypertension, dystrophy (weakness, loss of weight), sensory disorder, dehydration, lethargy, growth retardation, urinary tract infection; rare – psychosis. Allergic reactions (itching, rash, urticaria, very rare – erythematous skin lesions).
When applied topically: dermatitis.
If you miss a dose of Rocaltrol, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
