Propecia is used to treat hair loss (male pattern).Also is used to treat prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Indications for use Propecia
Propecia prevents the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (to reduce the size of prostate; improve urine flow and decrease the symptoms associated with hyperplasia, reduce the risk of acute urinary retention, requiring catheterisation or surgery, including transurethral resection of the prostate and prostatectomy).
Contraindications of Propecia
Hypersensitivity to finasteride, obstructive uropathy, prostate cancer. Finasteride is not used in women and children.
Dosage of Propecia
The daily dose is 5 mg, the multiplicity of reception – 1 times / day. Treatment is long.
Side effects of Propecia
On the part of the reproductive system: rarely – impotence, decreased libido, decrease in ejaculate volume, gynecomastia.
Allergic reactions: possible skin rash, angioedema.
Tell your doctor if you have any of these other conditions:
• liver disease, or abnormal liver enzyme tests;
• prostate cancer;
• a bladder muscle disorder;
• stricture of your urethra;
• if you are unable to urinate; or
• if you have ever had an allergic reaction to a similar medicine called dutasteride (Avodart).
Tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to finasteride.
